MEET YOUR FACILITATORS

Rachel Green, PhD

lisa Schmidt, MEd, PCC

Rachel Green, Ph.D. has worked as a psychologist, psychotherapist and workshop facilitator, and has garnered an international reputation for engaging, hands-on workshops that leave participants energized and with the building blocks to improve their professional practice.

She founded the training centre formation dancing gecko training in 2008 from which she offers online and in-person workshops.

She began her career in psychology as a neuropsychologist (BA, Concordia University; Ph.D., Université de Québec à Montréal) before encountering Motivational Interviewing, an approach designed specifically to help people make changes in their lives, in 2006. She is a member of the Motivational Interviewing Network of Trainers (MINT) and the Association francophone de diffusion de l’Entretien Motivationnel (AFDEM).

She has a regular mindful meditation practice and does several silent retreats each year to deepen her practice. Joining forces with lisa Schmidt, M.Ed, PCC to create Retire Right/Retraite Juste, she brings decades of experiential training to this new endeavour.

Through early days of being a songwriter and touring musician, completing a rigourous PhD program and raising two fabulous young men, Rachel arrives at the next step of her career, co-founder of Retire Right.

Having spent decades coaching and supporting leaders at all levels in iconic Canadian organizations such as the Centre for Addiction and Mental Health, CBC/Radio-Canada, the Hospital for Sick Children—and internationally with the Mastercard Foundation and The Humanitarian Coaching Network—lisa found herself wondering what the next stage of her career might look like given she still wanted to work, but a lot less.

She also wanted to make room for supporting an aging parent, travelling out of country a few times a year, and finally finishing at least one of the novels she had started writing in prior decades.

With a Masters in Education and her certification as a professional coach, lisa's focus has mostly been on helping people get clear on who they are, and want to become—and from there, figuring out what they want to do—with their careers, and their lives.

Her formal education also includes a BSc in Human Nutrition and Biochemistry, and an Executive Leadership certificate from the Rotman School of Business. Aside from that, she's a former speechwriter credited with writing "the Million Dollar speech" for a hospital fundraising campaign,  the recipient of Canadian Council literary funding, and an occasional essayist on Medium.

With Rachel, Retire Right is her next project as she both navigates this part of her own life, and uses her skills to support others.
