When it comes to retirement, many organizations offer programs to support financial preparedness to leave paid work. These range from RRSP matching schemes, or some form of pension (defined benefit or defined contribution) to financial readiness workshops, or consultations delivered in house through HR or an Employee Assistance Program.
While these are important facets of helping older workers transition to retirement, they focus on managing retirement as a financial process, missing the opportunity to strategically design a culture that supports employees, protects institutional knowledge and strengthens workforce sustainability.
The absence of a thought-out organizational retirement strategy puts organizations at risk in the domains of:
· Workforce/succession planning
· Resistance to leave the organization
· Institutional knowledge transfer
· Leadership capability
· Disengagement
Our Organizational Retirement Culture Assessment (ORCA™) offers organizations a way to evaluate potential risks and address them before they become serious. Beyond that, data from the assessment is a first step in developing a positive retirement culture in an era of longer careers, competition for talent and changing demographics.

You have your finances in order, but what are your plans to keep yourself engaged in your life? In our workshop, Creating the Retirement Life you Want to Live, participants discover their values, interests and level of satisfaction in four spheres:
- Relationships
- Challenges
- Self-Expression
- Structure.
Through a variety of interactive activities specifically designed to explore each aspect, participants will work in pairs, small groups and as one large group as they intentionally design their desired retirement plan. At the end of the workshop, they will have a visual measurement tool that shows the strength of each sphere in their own lives.
Further, each participant will be offered a one-on-one meeting with one of the facilitators to explore their least satisfying spheres and get resources to help reinforce and grow the parts of their lives they wish to enhance.
This workshop can be adapted to the needs of your organization and can be presented in an abbreviated format for conferences.

Our expert keynote speakers bring a wealth of knowledge about the value of preparing employees for a fulfilling retirement.
Topics they address are the “pain points” of employers, which include:
How to Have a Helpful Conversation about Retirement is an experiential workshop that addresses the difficulties of having this kind of conversation with employees considering or preparing for retirement.
Managers trained on effective retirement conversations can have a great impact on the atmosphere of trust on a team, and can help employees navigate the various impediments—real and perceived—to a fulfilling retirement.
Knowing their company will not punish them, by refusing training or promotion due to a conversation they had about retirement, keeps the employee engaged until their last days at work.
